A blessing allowed me to return to writing this morning. After the flurry of composition and revision after the Elbe cruise, I was empty. I didn’t want to set anything else down. I was angry because all I have written has come to nothing. I think, all in all, my anger was clement, feeble compared to what God had earned of me. But today I rose early and wrote on the cruise play and then a poem that gushed out of me like old times. Glad to be back. Do not imagine, Father, that you have escaped my fury. You have glanced it aside for the moment, as you do.
